Who doesn’t want a good vacation? Yay! March is here! You must on the look for a good vacation. You must we wondering about places to visit in March. This beautiful month is an escape from this freezing winter to beautiful places in India. To me March means calm and relaxing days of spring, when I can visit anywhere in India. March is a month to visit different places as you get to see colorful flowers and butterflies everywhere lulling with the relaxing breeze. Preparation of Holi and vacation!

Leaving those heavy coats behind, enjoying the bit warm breezy days, March is my ideal time for vacation. You can have fun in the fresh air under the sun. It’s the month with adventure spread in the air. You can go enjoy the warm beaches or small treks and even greenery of National Parks.

Here re few places you should check out if you are planning a March vacation:

1. Goa

There are many places to visit in March. Goa is one of them. Here is a beach in Goa with blue water and greenery.

Every time I think of vacation in India, Goa pops in my mind. Though Goa is very small in size, it’s a potpourri of beaches, sea food, amazing weather along with Indian and Portuguese Culture. Many tourists from all around the world come to Goa to enjoy it’s beaches, nightlife and architecture. It has rich flora and fauna, owing to its location on the Western Ghats range, it is a biodiversity hot-spot. You should surely visit this beautiful place, if beach vacation is on your mind.

Best thing is in March, they celebrate Shigmo, which is the state’s biggest folk festival. This festival spans for over a fortnight. Shigmo parade is a religious Hindu festival filled with colors, music, dance and floats.

The calm and good weather of March is the best season to visit Agra.

We all know about the hype of Taj Mahal. Every year the name of Taj Mahal attracts tourists from all over the world to Agra. Yes, Taj Mahal is every bit of what you’ve heard, it’s wondrous, magical and majestic. But it’s not the only attraction, there are several other monuments. Lakshadweep, formerly known as the Laccadive, Minicoy, and Aminidivi Islands is a group of islands part of India. It is situated 200-440 km off India’s west coast in the Arabian sea. The archipelago is a Union Territory and is governed by the Union Government of India. It has Muslim majority like Jammu and Kashmir. The name Lakshadweep literally means “a hundred thousand islands” in Sanskrit (laksha = lakh or a quantity of 100,000, dweep = island). It has ten inhabited islands, 17 uninhabited islands with attached islets, four newly formed islets and 5 submerged reefs. They are India’s only coral atolls and geologically a part of the same chain as the Maldives.

Lakshadweep is one of the most beautiful destinations that you could visit during your holidays with beautiful marine life, relaxed village life, some tourist resorts and cherished mosques.

Everybody, Indian or otherwise, requires a special permit to visit Lakshadweep. By far the easiest way to obtain it is to book a package tour through the government’s tour operator, The Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports (SPORTS), or arrange a hotel to sort it out for you.

Marine fauna are plentiful. Water sports activities such as scuba diving, wind surfing, snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, sport-fishing, yachting and night sea voyages are popular activities among tourists.

Chikmagalur is a beautiful green hill station located in the Indian state of Karnataka. It belongs to the Mullayanagiri range and the greenery is breath taking. There are large number of hills along with plenty of waterfalls. The coffee plantations are also very attractive and worth a visit.

Chikmagalur attracts many tourists especially from India due its scenic locations and nearby hill stations such as Baba Budan giri, Kudremukha, Mullayanagiri, Kalasa, Koppa, Sringeri, Jayapura and Mudigere.

The Pink City of India, Jaipur is one of the most colorful, royal and majestic cities in India. Jaipur is a very famous tourist destination and has lot of heritage to offer. There are beautiful palaces, gardens and museums. Jaipur is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Jantar Mantar and the Amer Fort.

The major reason to visit Jaipur in March is to witness the Holi Celebration. On the morning of Holi, Rajasthan Tourism organizes a special celebration for visitors. It’s held on the lawns of its Khasa Kothi hotel, near the railway station on MI Road (you don’t need to be a hotel guest to take part). It features local Rajasthani folk music and the throwing of colors.
Hotel Diggi Palace in Jaipur also hosts Holi celebration. It includes lunch buffet and cultural performances along with throwing of colors.
